Caroline Cole (Director)
Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and Tax Technician
Having caught the accountancy bug aged 14, I studied European Finance & Accounting at Leeds Metropolitian University, spending a year at Normandy Business School in Caen, studying the French system.
Having trained and qualified with Deloittes in Crawley, I then spent 11 years with Honey Barrett, where I became partner.
At Savoir Faire Accounting I specialise in helping owner managed businesses to meet their compliance requirements but also helping them to get the most from their business.
I enjoy working with my portfolio French clients and am keen to develop this aspect of the business as it is an area where I feel I can give these clients a higher level of support than most UK accountants would be able to.
I’m a member of Eastbourne & District Chamber of Commerce, Eastbourne Athena, Royal Chapter of BNI, and run an Anglo-French Business Group in Sussex.
My spare time is filled with running around after 3 children and following Brighton & Hove Albion. Due to a problem with my foot, you will find me wearing an interesting suit and trainer combo at work!
If Caroline can't provide the service you need, she probably knows someone who can, see useful contacts.

My accountancy career has always had a heavy industry focus, starting as a purchase ledger clerk at Jones Bootmakers, then moving on to Powerplay Direct as accounts assistant in charge of the sales ledger, with the role developing to include monthly management and year-end accounts work and external reporting for some of the subsidiary businesses.
In order to gain a formal qualification I made the switch into practice at Honey Barrett and Plummer Parsons where I qualified firstly with the AAT in 2005 then the ACCA in 2008. The clients I worked with included a wide range of owner managed businesses of various sizes. My work ranged from bookkeeping and VAT returns, year-end accounts and tax, audits and personal tax returns.
In 2012 I moved back in to industry as Financial Controller at AJ Mobility where I oversaw all financial aspects of the group, including cash flow management, liaison with suppliers, payroll processing etc.
In January 2013 I took on a part time Director role at Savoir Faire Accounting and in March 2014 I joined on a full time basis. Using my industry knowledge, I help our clients to get the most of out of their accounting information by preparing and interpreting regular management accounts. Working alongside business owners I identify and report on Key Performance Indicators, both financial and non-financial and analyse these and pre-set budgets to make sure the business is going in the right direction. If it is not then I highlight where it is going wring to develop a plan in order to rectify this.
My spare time is spent looking after my son and step children, watching Everton, reading, watching films and along with Caroline and some friends we enjoy regular pub quizzes.

Before starting at Savoir Faire Accounting, I improved my English by undertaking volunteer roles at Bookends, Scope and Helen Owen Marketing Enterprises.

Connal Hadden-Eccles (Administrative assistant / Trainee Bookkeeper)
I first came for a week of experience to see if it was a job I would enjoy and a career I would like to pursue. When I Arrived everyone was friendly and was happy to show me how everything worked and I decided I would enjoy a career in Bookkeeping, especially at Savoir Faire.
I joined the Savoir Faire Accounting team as an Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper to keep the office running smoothly and assisting the directors in their day to day work. I also assist on some of the simpler bookkeeping assignments. I am also responsible for ensuring the Company Secretarial work is kept up to date and that submissions to Companies House happen on time. I am studying towards the AAT qualification.
In my spare time I like to play computer games.
Lauren Schofield (Office Junior)
When Mum (Caroline) first asked me to help out at Savoir Faire Accounting, my first reaction was to say “No” as I really don’t want to be an accountant when I grow up. I did however want to start working and luckily my role does not involve any accountancy.
Working a few hours a week, my role includes scanning documents and saving them to client folders, hard copy filing, dealing with archiving, post runs and making lots of tea.
When I am not doing homework for school, I enjoy cooking, writing stories, drawing and reading.
